EMR software for small clinics in Pakistan

Search for EMR software in Pakistan and most of what comes up is built for hospitals: admissions, wards, labs, pharmacy and a billing department. A clinic with one to three doctors needs very little of that. What it needs is each patient's history in one place, readable, and there the next time the patient walks in.

That is the whole job of an electronic medical record (EMR) in a small clinic, and it is what FindClinica does. Each patient has one file on your phone and on the reception computer, with every visit, prescription and payment in date order.

One patient's record: today's visit on top, earlier visits below, payments on the next tab.

What goes into the record

The patient file holds the details you take once: name, age or date of birth, gender, contact numbers, CNIC, father's name, address, occupation, who referred them, and health insurance details.

Each visit then adds the presenting complaint, systemic history, allergies, investigations, diagnosis and treatment, the doctor who saw the patient, and what was charged and paid. Follow-up visits hang off the first visit with their own notes and payments, so a course of treatment reads as one story instead of five scattered entries.

Photos can go on a visit or into the patient's gallery, organised in folders. That is where pictures of lab reports and X-rays end up.

The history is the point

Paper notes fail in a quiet way: the information exists, it just isn't in front of you when it matters. In a well-known study of US primary care clinics, information was missing in 13.6% of visits, and doctors judged that it could delay care in more than half of those cases. Clinics with complete electronic records were much less likely to be missing it.

In FindClinica the penicillin allergy you noted in March is on the same screen as today's visit. Switch to the table view and a patient's whole history fits on one page: date, doctor, complaint, diagnosis, treatment and investigations, one row per visit.

Printing a record or sending one with a referral

Print Record lets you pick exactly what goes on the page: the allergies and systemic history, particular visits, and particular payments. The printout has your clinic, name, specialty, phone, email and PMDC number at the top, the patient's details, a table of the visits you picked, and the payments with totals in rupees.

On the desktop it saves as a PDF, which you can attach to a WhatsApp message or email. On the phone it opens the normal print screen.

Prescriptions stay in the record

Every prescription you send is kept on the patient's file with its date and time, and you can open or send it again from Prescriptions History. When a patient says the tablets you gave last time worked, you can see exactly which ones. How the prescription screen works.

Who can see the records

Records live on the phone that owns the account and on the devices you connect to it, and are synced to our server. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and a full backup is made every day.

A connected device, such as the reception computer, can work with patients and visits but can't edit or delete payments, staff or doctors, or change the owner's settings. From your phone you can remove a device from the connected list at any time.

Pakistan still has no data protection law in force: the Personal Data Protection Bill was still waiting for Parliament in 2026. That doesn't make a WhatsApp group full of patient reports a good idea, and it is easier to answer for records kept in one app with a known list of devices than for photos spread across staff phones.

Moving from paper without a big bang

You don't need to type in the old files first. Start with new patients, and add returning patients when they come back, beginning with the things that matter most: allergies, systemic history and current medicines. Keep the old register on the shelf for a year.

There is no import from Excel yet, so if you already keep a spreadsheet the same approach applies.

What it isn't

FindClinica is an outpatient record, not a hospital information system. There is no inpatient module, no lab or radiology integration, no HL7 or insurance claims, and no one-click export of all your data yet. The screens are in English. If those are what you need, look at a hospital system; if you need a clean record for a clinic, this is it.

Common questions

What is the difference between an EMR and clinic management software?

An EMR is the medical record itself: history, visits, diagnoses and prescriptions. Clinic management software adds the running of the clinic around it, such as appointments, fees, expenses and staff. FindClinica does both, which is why the two terms get mixed up.

Do I need internet to see or add records?

No. Records are saved on the device and sync when you are back online. Sending a prescription and uploading photos are the two things that need a connection.

Can two doctors see the same patient's record?

Yes. Everyone working in the account, on the owner's phone or a connected device, sees the same patient files. There are no per-doctor privacy settings, so plan for that if it matters in your clinic.

Can I print a patient's full history?

Yes. In Print Record, tick Select All and every visit, payment, allergy and history entry goes on the printout.

Can I take my data with me if I stop using FindClinica?

You can print records and the clinic registers as PDFs. There is no one-click export of the whole database yet; we would rather tell you that now than after you have moved in.
